Kerriodoxa elegans is endemic to the low mountainous and wet forests of the west coast of
peninsular Thailand. Mature turnks grow to 15 feet high with a diameter of 6 to 8 inches. They are generally
light brown and smooth and show closely set rings on the older parts. The leaves are circular and 6 to 8 feet wide with the tapering narrowly lanceolate.
Leaf color is light to medium green above but the undersurface is white.
The White Elephant Palm has proven amazingly hardy to cold considering. It loves moisture, a rich,
well-drained soil and partial shade. Although large palms can adapt to full sun.
Kerriodoxa elegans is a perfect palm for a patio or courtyard. It is also a beautiful accent in a bed of lower vegetation.
Planted in groups of three or more individuals of varying heights.
